Jackson Pollock Reflection

This last Thursday in my Avant- Garde class we learned about Jackson Pollock and painted in the same style as he did, drip painting or splatter painting. This little film we watched that he narrated was really interesting because he had cans of paint and he was just flinging it on the canvas that created extraordinary patterns without it being done on purpose. So we did our own painting and this is mine. It was really messing and its kind of hard to work on the floor but the feeling I got while throwing paint on to my canvas (cardboard) was just exhilarating, it is just so carefree. There was no rhyme or reason to where I put paint it was just to put the paint on the canvas. Like Jackson Pollock, I ran out side and grabbed some random things like leaves and a flower and threw it on there and continue to cast paint on top of everything. Looking closer at the painting there was some super cool patterns where my paint had mixed together, one was a black and white stripe, totally done ...

Road Trip CountDown

With My Road Trip right around the corner, which my cousin and me are soooooo excited about. I decided to look up a countdown before a trip checklist well I could not find one so I made my own. Here you guys go. Road Trip Countdown About a Month Before See if Debit/Credit Cards need to be notified of Travel, if you do not find out you could be without money when you arrive at your destination. Make sure tires are good for the road, don't want any nails to cause a flat tire on the road See if you will need an oil change. Most oil changes are needed every 5,000 - 7,500 miles so if you are driving far you may need one before and after the trip. Set up an appointment a couple weeks before so you know it gets done sometimes there is a wait. 4 - 3 Weeks before the trip Start a packing list, the basics of how many outfits to bring and if you’ll need a swimsuit, or like for our trip we are bringing sheets because we get 10 bucks off Make sure suitcases are good, do...

Nerman Museum Reflection

This last Thursday my Avant- Garde and Film class went to the Nerman museum in Kansas and visited the Micheal Rees " Pneumatopia" exhibt. It was super trippy but I think kind of behind the times. Here is a picture of what the exhibit looked like. There was six of these gaint blow up things each with some sort of square design on the side. There is also a tablet that you interact with and the picture kind of comes "alive". For example in this one a pig showed up and started walking around on the screen. Each on had something different. Like I said above I think this is kind of behind its time, yes it is very cool but I am able to do this on my phone. Had it been on some of the art, like the paintings or sculptures I saw that would be cool. However, there was not really anything to look that was amazing other than some animals on a tablet.  This was my FAVORITE artwork at the museum. It is called Wiggle Room by Warren Isensee. If you look close to the lines yo...

Art Activity Reflection # 1

So as you may be able to tell I have not been very active on here the last couple of weeks, mainly due to the fact that school recently started back up and I have been really focusing on it this semester. Buuuuut I saw a great opportunity to add more on my blog and get an assignment done for class. The class is called Avant-Garde Film  and it is taught by two teachers. It is super fun, it is basically the angst-y and experiment side of art. We get to do different art projects for like the hands on part of class, like yesterday we picked a piece of paper out of a bowl and it told us what type of art we would be doing with our group. My group was responsible for cubism. Someone famous that did cubism is Pablo Picasso, here is some of his work. Cubism is really enjoyable to make, in my opinion because it is very simplistic and does not have to be detailed. Which I like because I can get the shape of stuff that I like to draw but when it comes to adding detail that is where...

I KNOW, I KNOW! Where have I been? busy, and that is the plain and simple truth. However, I have pics now of my dorm!! super excited and it is all decked out, thanks pinterest. I will show you very soon.

How I stay on track and on Schedule

This is my baby. I take it everywhere, my mom got it all set up for me for my birthday so I could use it when I started school last year. She got all the stuff on sale at like Hobby Lobby or Joann's or, and this one is my fav, from her group of  Happy Planners  on Facebook. They just swap like stickers and page designs with each other and end up getting cute stuff like this. The cool thing is that if you want to move it around it rips out and then you just pop it back in the spot you do want it in! Super Fun and Super easy. You can even make your own page inserts with strong paper or a folder cover you like; just cut it how you want it and then use a cool hole punch that is made just for Happy Planners and put it in. You could customize your WHOLE planner if you wanted too. Or you can get stuff all the time at Joann's or Hobby Lobby or basically any craft store. Anyway that is what I use to keep track of everything I have to do. You do not have to write everything yo...

I FOUND OUT I HAVE A ROOMATE!!!

Hey guys! So I just found out yesterday that I have a roomie! I was not suppose to have one but I think I am kind of excited to. Of course I followed her on Instagram and messaged her right away, because why not. Anyway she is super nice and I think we are going to get along really well. We have one class together and after scrolling through her Instagram feed I saw she like Twenty One Pilots and so do I, like a TON. She looks super tiny in her pics too which is great because I am 6 feet tall and I always seem to get along with people a lot shorter than me. BUT now I have to share a space with someone, I have never I had to do this before. I have always had my own bedroom. So this is definitely be a new experience, which I think is like the whole point of me wanting to move into the dorm, for new experiences. So I need to like get one of those room mate "Contracts" like this one from  Hercampus.com .  You can view the whole this at the link. I do not know if I am actuall...
