If you are anything like me you have already scanned a whole bunch of websites with ads and links of what to have for college by people who WENT to college not people who are GOING to college. So here is my unadvertised and unsponsored checklist for college.
MUST HAVES:
1. bed stuff: sheets, pillows, pillow covers, blanket
2. A bed maybe a loft bed, If your school does not provide one but check first before you spend 100 bucks on a bed, like some one I know 😔 Also now that I have one I am just now realizing I am going to have to climb a ladder until I am like 22.... GREAT.
3. Desk, cause where are you going to do all your college work, also check to make sure your school doesn't already provide one for you. Avila does.
4. At least 2 towels/washcloths, laundry basket and soaps for your body and clothes. You have to shower at some point and your clothes need to be washed.
5. Clothes, obviously, but not all of them!!! Go through your clothes before you move in because that shirt you have been holding on to since freshman year of High School does not need to go. You have limited space so be wise.
6. School Supplies, This one you can buy before or after you move in but you DEFINITELY need them. I will add a link to my College school supply list here soon.
7. Laptop or see if you can rent one at school. At Avila you can.
8. FOOD, You NEED to eat but do not bring a whole kitchen. Just bring some food for a couple of days before you can start using your meal pass.
THINGS YOU MIGHT NEED
1. A mini fridge. ONLY if you do not have a fridge in your suite or if you do not want to share with your roomie. Make sure you check with your school website on how big it can be.
2. TV. For some it is a distraction other's it is good background noise. You may want to hold off and see if any of your roomies have one that you will all share or if they have one to sell.
3. Books, if you have a favorite book you read constantly bring it but you have a whole library just a few yards away go find some that do not take up valuable space in your room.
4. A couch. Ok the one time I will mention my deal I got. My mom bought me this cute teeny tiny couch that fits perfect under my loft bed for 40 bucks, YAY GO MOM. Anyway you need a hangout spot that's quiet but not back in your bed.
5. Coffee pot, if you drink anything hot this would be really useful and quick.
THINGS YOU DEFINITELY DO NOT NEED
1. A NEGATIVE ATTITUDE. If you go into college with a negative attitude you might as well just quit. Trust me I just failed an entire semester because I was so negative about going to school. That changed.
2. Candles/scentsy stuff I know we want our rooms to smell good but most colleges do not let you have hot stuff in your room at avila you can not even have an iron.
3. Alcohol/drugs any of that stuff. Sure you were a Bada$$ in high school but leave it there. Not only will you most likely get kicked out of dorms but you'll probably lose any scholarships you have received. It really is not worth it. Have fun but be smart.
LET ME KNOW DOWN BELOW WHAT ELSE SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE LIST OR DELETED. THANKS! BYE!!!
